We Welcome You To Troop 650!

Welcome to a new scouting year at Troop 650! We have many exciting things planned for the year including campouts, popcorn sales, BBQ sales, and other things that will give your boy some scouting skills. As of February, Rob Murphy has taken over as our new scout master, so let's make him feel welcome for his first full year with Troop 650. Remember, meeting times are now taking place at 7:00 and are held at Pinewood Presbyterian Church, 198 Knight Box Road, Middleburg, Florida. We look forward to having you in our troop.

Next week is the last week to recharter with the troop. If you plan on continuing to be a member of troop 650, annual membership fees of $24 are due.  Adult leaders must be up to date with their Youth Protection training and position training for their membership renewal to be accepted by BSA's North Florida Council.  Training is online.  Check our links to complete training or check the date of training completed. You can also check "Troop Roster" under Administration for "Custom Fields" for date of youth protection training and if you are position trained.

Adopt-a-Highway Road Clean Up. Saturday, Dec. 6.

Posted by robmurphy on Dec 2 2014 - 10:58pm

Troop 650 participates in the adopt-a-highway program and is responsible for cleaning up part of Knightboxx Road.  The troop adopted part of Knightboxx Road several years ago and used to pick up trash along the road regularly.  We are going to begin to fulfill our agreement again.  The first clean up is this Saturday from 9am to 12 pm.  Please meet at Pinewood.  Bring work gloves and water.  Safety vests and bags will be provided.  This is an excellent opportunity for service hours.

BBQ Time!

Posted by robmurphy on Oct 23 2014 - 8:47pm

It is time for the Troop's 15th Annual BBQ fundraiser.  BBQ sales tickets went home with the scouts this past Monday.  More tickets are available.  All sales receipts and money are due Monday, November 3.  The BBQ will be Saturday, November 8 at O-dark thirty.  Please inform your customers they can pick up their orders from 2-4pm.  Scouts can sell at Pinewood between and after services this Sunday and next.  Uniforms must be worn.  Scouts are also encouraged to sell to their friends, families and neighbors.  This is an important fundraiser for the troop and all scouts should participate.  Ideally we would like each scout to sell around $350 in BBQ.

Good Times at Faver-Dykes State Park

Posted by robmurphy on Oct 23 2014 - 8:39pm

On October 10, the troop traveled to Faver-Dykes State Park in St. Johns county.  Upon arriving to our campsite we were greeted by a large great horned owl perched in a tree above our site.  On Saturday the boys fished the intracoastal waterway trying to catch fish while working on their fishing merit badge.  The weather was nice, if not too warm.  Luke and Andru Funyak caught red fish while Andru also caught a catfish.  Connor Davis caught an eel and Mr. Underwood also caught a catfish and a stingray!  On Saturday the troop participated in a service project for the park by clearing brush along the roadway.  The boys and adults worked hard.  Connor Davis successfully completed his 1st Class cooking requirements and the Tenderfoots got to work on some of their 2nd Class and 1st Class requirements.  Pictures from the camp out can be found in the photo album.

Congratulations to Eagle Scout Jakub Funyak!

On September 23, Jakub Funyak met with his Eagle Board of Review and was approved to receive his Eagle Scout rank.  The Board consisted of Black Creek District representative Paul Cummins and Troop Committee members Terri Dollinger, Rod Swartz, Kate Swartz and Chris Dailey.  The date for Jakub's Eagle Court of Honor will be announced later.
